scrapbooking resolution...

As I've said before, I'm not a resolution maker, but I'm thinking of making one today, February 1, 2012.  I'm a month late for a New Year's Resolution, so this is going to be my Scrapbooking Resolution.

I resolve to scrap at least three 12x12 pages each week this year.

Seems doable, right?  I hope it is.

Since about this time last year I stopped scrapping in preparation for a move out west.  Now I have a year, plus a bit more to catch up on.  I know there is no time limit or schedule with scrapbooking, but I don't want to get too far behind and forget to scrap some pages or get to a point where I feel overwhelmed and just quit.

There, I've said it, I put it out there for you to see.  Let's see how I do.

More progress!

The scrapbook pictures have been ordered and should be arriving in the mail sometime next week. Today I thought I'd move on to step two, finding titles for the pages I will soon be creating. The Perfect Title and Two Peas in a Bucket are really great sources for giving me some inspiration when my mind draws a blank. Thanks to those two sites and my brainstorming, I have a great list of pages to create along with titles to use.

Progress

Today was my day. I got up, got moving and accomplished so much! House work was done by 9:30am, showered and dressed by 9:45am, out the door walking by 10:30am. I had my lunch at Noon then sat and worked on uploading pictures and choosing which I would like printed. There are so many events I want to scrapbook, I had about 250 pictures that I want to put in a book. Thankfully Snapfish has a great collage option for prints that help me get several pictures onto a couple different sized canvases and saves me time doing it myself in PSE. Bonus, too, Snapfish is running a special until January 9th: 99 prints (4x6 mail-order) for 99 cents! Sweet! If you have lots to print, hurry, get them uploaded and in your cart! Enter 2011PENNY as your coupon code at checkout for the same deal.

Eat, Sleep, Play Soccer

Another super-simple layout. I love how simple and clean this layout is. I am totally missing my actual paper and adhesive...can't wait to be caught up and doing traditional scrapping again. This is the last digital layout I'm doing for a bit. My scrapbook should be current with the printing of these layouts. I think I have 18 ready to print. eek! I was waaaaaay behind, but it feels so good to know I'm not any longer!

One template, two different layouts

I'm using these layered templates to death! :D Here are two different layouts using the same template.

The beast...Macy

Here she is...our monster! She's disguised as a sweet, adorable, innocent puppy...don't let that fool you, she's not-so-innocent. Actually, she's not that bad as far as puppies go, but it's been a long time since I've dealt with a puppy. Macy can chew anything. ANYTHING! We've lost a shoe or two, some toys, a stuffed animal...ever seen the insides of a Build-A-Bear...all over your living room floor? Even with all her mischievousness, we love her. We wouldn't mind her outgrowing some of the puppy stuff, but we love her and we'll keep her.

More layered templates...

Same templates, completely different layouts. These are so simple and go together so quickly. The hardest part is picking out the pictures!

Loving layered templates!

I downloaded a few layered templates from Designer Digitals today. They're my best bet for helping get caught up with my scrapbooking. This is an Ali Edwards template and I love how I can get several pictures on the layout and still keep it clean and simple looking.

Layered Template

As I continue to catch up with my scrapping digitally, I wanted to try some new things, make me learn some new skills with PSE. So I decided to use a layered-template that was created by Ali Edwards. (it's a free download if you're interested)

These two pages are professional shots that we had taken for GQ's 4th and 5th birthdays. I used the same template for both layouts but just changed the papers, photos and position of the journaling to make them different. Pretty cool how versatile and easy these templates are to use!

From 2008...

I didn't realize exactly how far behind I was! YIKES! I think this is the farthest I have to go back though. I hope it is...

This kit is another free kit from The Shabby Princess. It's her Harvest Spice kit and I'm loving the warm colors, can't wait to use it a bit more.

Happy Birthday Daddy...

way back in May! Told you I was playing catch up!

I used a Shabby Princess digital kit for this layout, too. Actually, it's the same kit (Happy Go Lucky) I used for the golf layout I posted a few days ago. I love that it was FREE and is so versatile!

In my room...

this digital page is very simple, but it's maybe one of my favorites. I love the pictures! They were all snapped when GQ wasn't aware that I was watching.

I didn't use any downloaded elements for this layout, it's simply pictures and elements from within the PSE program.

Starting to catch up...

with my scrapbooking. I've gotten so far behind since September and want to start fresh with my traditional scrapbooking so I'm using digital to get caught up.

I really enjoy playing around on the computer seeing what I can come up with digitally. It's a fun and easy way for me to knock out several pages., but I do miss playing with paper, punches, adhesive and other embellishments. My favorite part of scraping it playing with the papers and seeing what works and what doesn't.

This page was created using some free elements I downloaded from The Shabby Princess. She has tons of digital kits to download, including lots of free kits. This particular kit is the Happy Go Lucky kit. It has so many papers and elements to it that I'll be able to create several pages with it.

I'll be back soon with more digital pages.

Simply adorable...

I have the honor of doing design work for my local scrapbook store, Southern Scrapbooks. Peggy is just the sweetest and I love working for her! I love paper crafting and it's always fun to have somebody else that loves it as much as I do and lets me create stuff for them.

The other day I popped in to say hi to Peggy and she had this adorable picture that needed to be put into a layout and displayed in her store. I volunteered to do it for her. The smile on this little guy is so big and bright...I had a lot of fun creating this page for him!

I used nothing but a little cardstock, ink and rub-ons to create the page. Some of the rub-on elements I put on white cardstock and cut out to add dimension. The little birds flying above and some of the circles in the tree below...just gives it a little more interest.

elements:
cardstock: Prism, Marco
rub-ons: Little Yellow Bicycle - baby safari collection
ink: Staz On Cotton White
ribbon: misc scrap
alpha stickers: American Crafts Thickers

They both love the water!

Grandma's dog loves the water just as much as GQ does!

:D

Two more layouts down...

about 10 more to go!

I attempted to convert some color pics to sepia tone and liked the results. And GQ helped me create his 'Uncle' Kent page, suggesting colors and creating the trees from circles and rectangles. Fun!

Going digital...

I realized I've taken far too many pictures this summer and have way too much to scrapbook. So I'm going to catch up with digital scrapbooking. As much as I play around with PSE I have yet to create a page for my scrapbooks that's entirely digital. But with a list of about 12 layouts I'd like to get completed in order to be caught up, I'm going digital... I'm still trying to find my style digitally but it's fun to play around and see what I do and don't like.

I cropped this guy wrong...that's what the black outline is on two sides. It's a white paper base w/out the black outline.

I just realized I forgot to look for grammatical errors in my journaling...let me know if you see anything. eek!

Hope you all enjoy your weekend!

Home Sweet Home!

Aren't those little houses, tree and birdhouses adorable? I fell in love with this Nikki Silvis paper the moment I saw it! I love the colors and thought those house couldn't be cuter. The houses are actually the flip side of the green-treed patterned paper. I adhered them to cardstock to give a little more weight and then cut them out so I could add with dimensionals. I love it!

elements:
cardstock: Prism
patterned-paper: Nikki Silvis Scrapbooker - Victoria Lane
