First Communion Invitation for Kelsea

I was so honored when my good friend, Kristen, contacted me to create a First Communion invitation for her daughter, Kelsea. Kristen gave me a few requests, such as colors and religious symbols, but otherwise I was able to do what I wanted.

The design of the invitation started with the cross stamp I found. It was so pretty, I knew it would work for the invitation. Then, I found this gorgeous embossed white cardstock that I wanted to use. Figuring out how to use both together sort of stumped me. They were both so pretty and delicate that I didn't want one to over-power the other. I had vellum in my head, I would stamp the cross on vellum and then overlay on the white...didn't look good...it took me a few attempts with the vellum to get past using it.

This is the finished invitation. I heat embossing the cross on the same pink cardstock that I used for the card base. Then cut out and applied to the white embossed cardstock with pop-dots. Originally I planned to add ribbon to the invitation, but after the cross was applied the ribbon sort of cluttered it up and took away from the design of the stamp and the embossing on the white cardstock, so I eliminated the ribbon. I still wanted to add a little something to make it a special, so I added a small pearl into the center of the cross. I really loved how the finished invitation ended up. And I got an email from Kristen stating that she loved the picture that I sent her...hopefully she was even more pleased when she received the real thing in the mail!

Marriage Reception Invitation

I was very honored to be asked to make some invitations for a marriage reception. It took place in early November so they used fall colors for decorations and I tried to find some fall colors to use on the invites as well. I really liked the final product.

The base of the invite is a chocolate brown cardstock. And the deep red card stock is stamped with a forever and ever and ever stamp using VersaMark to create the watermark affect. I just stamped it over and over and over... Then I just stamped the cake on sparkle paper and used watercolors and Stickles to color. After that I mounted in the marigold color and put on w/pop-dots and tied some organdy ribbon.

The reception was supposed to be casual but not too casual. I hoped that w/the destressing of the paper it made the invite a bit casual, but we chose a font for the invite wording that was fun but a little fancy at the same time.

Dinosaurs Rock!

Gavin's birthday is quickly approaching. It's really hard to believe that he's going to be three! This birthday is really exciting for us all because this is the first year he is really understanding that we're having a party just for him. The only things he's requested for his birthday are a dinosaur cake and a party hat! Easy, huh? It actually worked out perfectly for me w/the dinosaur theme because I had some CTMH dinosaur stamps that I was hoping to get to use on his invites. (This is my third year making his invitations and I have to say that each year they get better and better :) Last night on eBay we found some cute dinosaur party hats so we're good to go! Well, we do have some other details...the cake, the presents, and mailing the invites so that the family actually knows when and were to show up :)

To make the invitation I used a template from a Weekly Inklings, it's the weekly newsletter for Split Coast Stampers. I didn't add all the embellishments they had on the example because it hid the cute dinosaur patterned paper I used. I didn't do anything too fancy on the invite. All the stamped images on it are heat embossed. And I did stamp the envelopes to coordinate with the invitation. You'll have to pardon the sort of unclear pictures. I packed up our wireless router to send to NC w/Jason and along w/that I sent our printer cord! That means I also can't scan anything. Although my scanning abilities aren't that great, I can get a better scan of a card than I can a picture.

I was looking around for ideas and came across this one http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/616361 and just loved it. I didn't CASE the exact invite, but used it for inspiration. My card has a light pink full inside that the invite information would be printed on.

Some invitation examples I made today

Here are a few invitation possibilities I made this afternoon. Nothing fancy, the bella one is fun, the cake is too. And the monogram is just a clean and simple design. I still need to work on a couple more, I think I could figure out something a little fancier.

My original tri-fold design...

that inspired my invite with bling. I made this for a friend's party. The party is a surprise so the important info is masked just incase... This was the first time I did a tri-fold card and really like the way it turned out. And I think my favorite part about this card, other than the layout, is the color scheme. I just love black and white and I love green; the three combined are a new favorite for me!

Invite with a little bling...

An invitation that I made for a little cousin's first birthday. It's a tri-fold invite. I scanned it to try and show how it looks as you open each flap. The tri-fold is nice because it allows a lot of info on a little invitation. I'm proud to say that I personally wrote the little poem on the first inside flap :) The funny white boxes are where I blocked out personal information or times and dates...wouldn't want a crowd of hundreds showing up for a party meant for 15 :)

My first post...

A friend of mine asked me to make an invite for her daughter's birthday party. Of course I was thrilled to do so. I was so excited to be able to use girly colors, I don't get to do that too much since I scrap for my guys mostly. Anyway, it was a luau theme with lots of bright colors. I loved designing and putting it together. The card is tri-fold. It opens up to a white center than has all the party details printed in the same color blue as the base of the invite.
