Making a sweet treat even sweeter...

This Valentine's Day we're passing out candy hearts to some of GQ's little neighbor friends. Because the plain box just wasn't working for me we made these cute little jackets for them. It was a nice little project that started out me and GQ and ended up just me. I'm not complaining because I sometimes (ok, most times) have trouble sharing my crafty toys with GQ.

The jackets were created using scraps of paper, ribbon and a box of candy hearts. I've seen jackets or wraps made for candy boxes before on SplitCoastStampers and my friend Karie is a pro at it...the gifts she makes for her kiddo's teachers are adorable! I didn't have a template or pattern w/measurements to follow so GQ and I just measured the box, cut and scored the paper and it all worked out. It really was easy and I think I might have figured out an easier way to do it but that light bulb moment didn't happen until I was tying the last knot in the ribbon. Next time I'll be much faster at making these...you really could put something like this together for a classroom of kids in no time. You could assign the ribbon/bow tying to your kiddos, their small fingers work much better for tying those bows and knots!
