Cookies for a Cure

My friend, Natalia, has a 4 year old son, Evan, who has Cystic Fibrosis. On Saturday we attended and awesome fundraiser, Cookies for a Cure, that Natalia put together to raise money for their Great Strides walking team. They raised lots of money and are just shy of their $5k goal! This is great because that’s $5k that goes directly to Cystic Fibrosis research, care and education! At Cookies for a Cure we indulged in 19 different varieties of cookies and perused through all the awesome silent auction items. Sadly we were outbid on everything we put our name on, but that’s ok, it's more money toward their goal!

One additional way money was raised at the event was through the sale of recipe cards. A recipe card for each of the 19 varieties of cookies was printed along with a picture and bio of somebody living with Cystic Fibrosis. It’s a really cool idea and would make an awesome gift for anybody that loves to bake. And remember, Mother’s Day is quickly approaching… The cookies were all delish, so you can’t go wrong with any of them! If you’re interested in helping out the Breath 4 Evan walking team, you can purchase a recipe card pack. It’s $10 for 19 recipes. You can make your donation here, www.cff.org/great_strides/NataliaParillo, then contact me and I’ll pass your mailing info on to Natalia and she can get the cards to you in the mail. If you’d prefer to mail a check to me, I can get it to Natalia and mail your cards, just make the check payable to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

If you’d like to learn more about CF and about Evan be sure to visit www.cookiesforacure.net There's lots of great info on the site, including a very interesting fact, that 90% of the funds raised for CFF are put to work on research, care and education. They are very efficiently run and you can trust that your money is being put to excellent use!

It was great to see you too, Paula! Too bad we didn't get to meet Owen, maybe another time!

A friend just forwarded me an e-mail with your blog address. My little granddaughter has CF too, and I just participated in a walk on Saturday on Siesta Key in Florida.
