Finally, some flowers...

Way back in June GQ planted some zinnia seeds. We watered them, gave them sun and all we got were there tall stems with some leaves...for months and months. Finally, just the other day we saw some flower buds and now we have some pretty flowers. Pretty exciting stuff! Especially since we'd gone for so many months with nothing, I figured flowers were never going to come!

For the cure...

I did it, I signed up for my first 5k! In less than two weeks I'll be running 3.2 miles in Charlotte's Race for the Cure. I'm very excited that my first race is for such a great cause and I'll be running in memory of my husband's grandmother.

Training has gone well and I never though back in May that I'd be running 3 miles with out issue. I never thought I'd be running one mile, but I stuck to my training program and enjoy running. I don't exactly enjoy 3 miles but 1.5-2 miles in the mornings is refreshing (most of the time.)

Big props to Couch to 5k for their training program! They made a non-runner (me) into somebody that is enjoying running. Can't say I'll ever have the desire to do a 1/2 marathon or full, but getting out for 30 minutes or so to clear my head and get the heart pumping is good!

I'll let you know how the race goes...not expecting a fast time, just want to run it and finish it. Wish me luck...

Simply adorable...

I have the honor of doing design work for my local scrapbook store, Southern Scrapbooks. Peggy is just the sweetest and I love working for her! I love paper crafting and it's always fun to have somebody else that loves it as much as I do and lets me create stuff for them.

The other day I popped in to say hi to Peggy and she had this adorable picture that needed to be put into a layout and displayed in her store. I volunteered to do it for her. The smile on this little guy is so big and bright...I had a lot of fun creating this page for him!

I used nothing but a little cardstock, ink and rub-ons to create the page. Some of the rub-on elements I put on white cardstock and cut out to add dimension. The little birds flying above and some of the circles in the tree below...just gives it a little more interest.

elements:
cardstock: Prism, Marco
rub-ons: Little Yellow Bicycle - baby safari collection
ink: Staz On Cotton White
ribbon: misc scrap
alpha stickers: American Crafts Thickers

Still playing catch up...

but I'm almost done. Just a couple more layouts to go and I'm back to being on top of my picture taking and scrapbooking! And it's just in time for fall and all that it brings, including a certain little boy's 5th birthday!

These are a couple layouts that I've done digitally. The 2nd pic is actually two 12x12 layouts that I merged together so you could see how they'll look in the scrapbook. I'm still enjoying playing around on the computer with my pictures and layouts but missing actually playing with paper and glue and seeing what I can work out.

Sweet Birthday Wishes...

I love to make cards for little girls! It's so much fun to make things using pretty girly colors that I just don't get to use everyday having a little boy.

Have you seen anything cuter than this darling little Elzybell stamp? She goes perfectly with a random Make a wish... stamp I have laying around.

elements:
cardstock: Stampin' Up, Bazzill, CTMH
patterned-paper: Pebbles Inc - Linnie Bell Collection
ink: Ranger
bling: Me & My Big Idea

For a modern mommy...

A friend of mine is expecting in October. She's a very modern mommy with a LOVE for the color orange. The simplicity of the stork stamp is perfect for her and the citrus-colored ribbon is just the right accent!

Have I told you that I'm continuing on in my use of scraps for all my cards? Other than card bases my cards are made with scraps from my current paper stash. Unless I'm making multiples of a particular card, I'm not cutting into any fresh paper. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

elements:
cardstock: Papertrey Ink, CTMH
stamps: A Muse
ink: Ranger
ribbon: Doodlebug
markers: Copic

A card that's fit for a teenage boy!

I'm sure my 15 year-old nephew isn't as impressed with this card as I am, but he doesn't know how hard it is for me to do masculine. And he's a 15 year-old boy, not much impresses him, except maybe a 15 year-old girl. LOL!

elements:
cardstock: Stampin' Up & Bazzill
patterned paper: misc scraps from my stash
