Happy Leap Day!

And Happy Friday too! And since it's Friday, you know that it's Friday Sketch time again over at Memory Book Inspirations. This weeks sketch is so easy, click here if you'd like to see it and try it out for yourself.

I kept it simple this week. I had a thank-you card that I needed to make for a male. Since I have trouble with masculine cards it really had me stumped. I figured the recipient wouldn't appreciate all the cool girly colored papers and images I had, so I stuck w/something a little more subdued and simple. I like the end product, but wasn't sure how I'd manage to make a card and not even add Stickles :D

Enjoy your weekend everybody!

I think he gets it from his mommy...

his creative bone, that is. My little guy painted the picture on this scrapbook page. I loved it and he was so proud that he made it for me. He also made one for daddy to take to work and display in his office. The picture was so great and it was such a sweet moment when he presented me the picture that it derserved a special page in his scrapbook.

A couple challenges that I've completed

There are lots of little challenges going on over at MBI. I never really did challenges but I have to say that I've really been loving them and it's been a HUGE help in keeping me motivated to stay current with my scrapbooking and card making.

The first card I made for a challenge where we had to stamp on chipboard or grungeboard. I choose to use grungeboard. To start I painted the grungeboard stars yellow...about three coats. Then I stamped a heart on them using white pigment ink. I gave it a hit with my heat gun to make sure the inks and paint were all dry before working with. I really didn't know what I was going to do with them and then it hit me...a star is born. I just got a new K&Co paper pack that had the perfect baby paper to use. It all sort of fell together w/out much planning. I'm thrilled w/the way it came out! It's one of my favorite cards yet!

The second card is for an embossing party challenge. We had to do tone-on-tone heat embossing. I used the tone on tone on the yellow cardstock background. I did add some Stickles to the flames for a little extra pop and because I used lots of them up on the cake image. (If you don't know it by now, I heart Stickles!)

Hope you like...thanks for looking!

Friday Sketch Time Again...

Can't believe how quickly this week has flown by. I didn't get much done in the way of card making, but we had house guests and that's my excuse. Although they (my in-laws) played with the kiddo, kept him very busy the entire visit; I just didn't take advantage of my free time like I could/should have. I really could have done more. I did manage to get about six scrapbook layouts done, just not any cards.

Well, I can't say that I didn't get any cards done, I did make two. These are both for the Friday Card Sketch Challenge at Memory Book Inspirations. I wanted to try a card with only a layer or two, so that's what I did with my flower card. I always add and add some more, so I challenged myself to not add so much. The glitter design on the cardstock was done with Stickles and my Dots All Around Template...so many cool and different things you can do with that template! And the doggy card was fun to make! I haven't used a SU! set that hasn't seen dayligh in a while. I randomly punched holes in the red cardstock strip to thread the ribbon and then stapled down. I applied that strip with pop dots so I doubled up the pop dots on the stamped image so it laid nicely over that strip. I really like the final product!

Week 2 - Friday Sketches at Memory Book Inspirations

It's here! Friday Card Sketches at Memory Book Inspirations are here! This weeks sketch is an easy one that you can do so many different things with. Click here to see the sketch and give it a try! Add it to our gallery so everybody can see. Please enter CSW2 in the description so the card is easily searchable and leave a comment here letting us all know that you posted one. Have fun!

I made my card with a $1 stamp set that I found at Michael's! What a bargain!! I loved the little hanger and thought that I'd be able to do a number of things with it. For this card, I stamped the hanger onto my white cardstock. Then I stamped some hearts onto a scrap piece and colored with Stickles (I heart Stickles!) Once they dried I cut 'em out and applied with pop-dots. Lastly, I used a couple treads of embroiderly floss to stitch strings for the hearts to hang from.

I've been busy this week...

I wanted to get my scrapbooking caught up before I got too far behind. And I was also doing some cleaning because the in-laws arrive tonight for a visit. Because of this I haven't made any cards this week and I'm feeling a bit of ink & stamp withdrawal! LOL! Be sure to check here on Friday, I'll have MBI's Friday Sketches posted. I have a great idea for a card using a stamp I got out of the $1 bin at Michael's!

See you on Friday!

Friday Card Sketches at Memory Book Inspirations

Our Friday Card Sketches at Memory Book Inspirations have begun! I had tons of fun using my new Bella stamp and the sketch. This is first time I've done this much stitching on a card. And this is my first time paper piecing also. The cup cake paper and Bella's dress are both paper pieced from Stampin' Up patterned paper. I really like the way it turned out, I'm going to have to try paper piecing some more in the future.

Click here to see the sketch. If you use the sketch to make a card be sure to post it over in the MBI Gallery and link in the Stamping & Card Making Forum. Add CSW1 to the description so it's easily seachable that way. Have fun!
