Tell all your friends...

Memory Book Inspirations is offering up a new contest for the month of June, it's a chance to be a Guest Card Maker during the month of July on MBI. The title of Guest Card Maker includes being spotlighted in the monthly newsletter showing off your card-makin' skills, being involved in the our weekly card-making challenges and a moderators discount in the MBI Store for the month of July!

What do you have to do to get yourself in the mix? Create a card, but not just any card, they're looking for shaped cards (meaning no rectangle, square or round cards) that contain BLING! You can submit as many cards as you like, just be sure to post them individually into the MBI gallery If you need help posting in the gallery ask me. Pictures should be no larger than 500x500 pixels.

What sort of shaped cards could you submit? The possibilities are endless...I've seen onesies, bra & panties, stars, purses, dresses, flowers...it's amazing what you can do with a little cardstock and adhesive!

The fine print...cards must be created between June 1st and June 30th, 2008 and must be created specifically for this website's challenge. Cards must not have been displayed on other scrapbooking websites (personal blogs are ok). Be sure to submit your cards by midnight on June 30th, 2008 to be eligible to win.

Happy Birthday Hubby!

Today is hubby's birthday! I won't give away his age, but he's now officially closer to 40 than he is 30! ( It's hard to believe how old we're getting...I never really notice it until I see a kids, that looks like they're 12, but are driving a car because they're actually 16 or older. I figured the younger and younger teens look to me the older I'm getting. ) Since it's hubby's day, we've hired a sitter for tonight and are doing dinner and movie...his choice. No real gifts to open, hubby has some trips with the guys planned in the near future so those combined are his gift. GQ and I are going to make him a chocolate cake with chocolate icing this afternoon. YUM!

GQ and I spent part of yesterday afternoon making cards for daddy. GQ made 99.9% of his card on his own. There are tons of adhesive and Stickles on his card! The only part I helped him with was knocking down the one inch pile of Stickles that he created on it, that's how the rainbow of glitter glue was created. It looks pretty...took a looooooooooooong time to dry! Had we left it in the one inch pile it would have taken about a week to dry!

I used the Friday Sketch at MBI to make my card. I also got to give my new Paper Trey Ink stamp set a try. I don't own too many masculine-themed stamp sets and I just love this one!

I feel like I've lost my scrappy mojo...

It's no where to be found right now. I have some gorgeous papers and brand-spankin' new stamps just sitting on my desk waiting for me to use. I'm guessing it's all because of the beautiful weather we've been having and being outside all day...there is just no time for scrappy time. But I'm hoping to be back very soon with some wonderful creations.

( I'm cropping next Tuesday, so if I don't find my muse by then, maybe I can buy one...the crop will be at a scrapbookstore and I have a special order stamp that should be in when I'm there for the crop! )

So many toys...

I just can't stop taking pictures of my little cutie pie. He's my little sweetheart and gives me so many great moments to scrap. I just took this picture the other day. He had all his outdoor toys circled around him and then sat down for a break from the sun and running around to do some Leap Pad play. He didn't even notice me taking the picture...

Again...bad PSE skills here. I took the picture in bad lighting and couldn't get my base paper to look as white as it should be. It's pretty much a true white...not off-white like it appears in the photo.

Lil' Slugger

I should have been making cards this afternoon while GQ napped but I felt like scrapping instead. Even though my little guy isn't smiling, I love these pictures! He was acting like a real baseball player while posing and showing off his new REAL baseball glove and ball.

The colors are a little off...I need to work on my PSE skills. The pinks are really reds and the blues aren't really that aqua looking in real life.

Kick-Stand Card

I really should be taking a shower and getting ready to head out on errands but wanted to post a quick little card I made. Took me two days to put together...been outside pretty much non-stop playing! No time for crafting according to GQ!

Monogram Thank-You Note

Knowing what sort of busy-ness a newborn can bring to a household as mom, dad & siblings get to know the new family member and the visitors line up at the front door to see the new bundle, I thought some thank-you notes for the my cousin might come in handy.

The design of the card came from Hero Arts Blog, there is a video showing how easily this design comes together. I decided to monogram the card specifically for Cole rather than having the thank-you sentiment on the outside of the card. The inside of the card leaves some room for a message along w/the words Thank You and a beaded safety pin. I hope they like!

Passing It Forward!

I received quite a stash of goodies from Kim as part of a pass it forward game. There was chipboard, stickers, a flower... Now it's my turn to pass it forward...first three bloggers to post a comment here will get a little scrapping goodie in the mail from me. And if you'd like to continue this little game on your blog that would be awesome!

{ Girlfriends Style Birthday Card Swap }

The swap is over...all the cards have been mailed out, so I can now post a picture of the card I made for everybody. It was super easy to do and I used something new, Liquid Applique. It was sooo cool and sooo easy! I don't know how easy it is to tell from the picture, but on the white frosting part of the cake it's puffy...that's from the Liquid Applique. All you do is squirt it on, let it dry and heat to w/a heating tool to puff it up. I can't wait to use it on some more cards...I have tons of ideas in my head, mostly for my Christmas cards, so it might be a while before I get to it. But I'm sure I can think of some other clever ways to use it!

Happy Mother's Day!

Hope you all have a Mother's Day that is as wonderful as you are!

My guys are treating me to breakfast at The Flying Buscuit Cafe! They have the yummiest grits ever! I'm looking forward to coffee & grits and a relaxing day hanging out with my guys.

I know the day isn't about gifts, but it's a nice little thank-you for all the hard work I do. GQ was so sweet, he took me shopping today for anything I wanted. He picked out a nice summer dress and raved about how beautiful I looked in it in the dressing room. Now matter how much weight I think I need to loose or how limp I think my hair might be or how less-than-stylish I think my wardrobe is, my little guy always tells me how beautiful I look! Looking at GQ reminds me that my few extra pounds were earned through pregnancy and my hair is perfect for street hockey in the drive-way or playing catch. He means the world to me and I feel very lucky being his mommy!

So...tell me what you did and/or received for Mother's Day...I'd love to hear it!

Welcome to the world Cole William!

Wanted to congratulate Heather, Phil & Camryn on the newest member of their family...Cole William arrived early this morning, 12:45am. He's a little guy at 6 lbs 2 oz. Today is also Heather & Phil's wedding anniversary; what an awesome anniversary and Mother's Day gift!

I bought some new papers...

The MBI Store has a new line of papers in, Daisy Bucket Designs! Each piece is double-sided w/gorgeous patterns and colors! I'm in love with them! And since GQ decided to nap today after a morning of play at Monkey Joes, including an injury...plastic slide burn :( I decided to take advantage of my time and scrap with my new stuff! I even had time to take pictures and upload on the computer, this doesn't happen too often anymore...I'm lucky if he naps! Anyway, here's what I came up with...

Another Important Person in Our Life

As I continue scrapping pages that are dedicated to specific people in GQ's life I come to one page that was extremely difficult to do. It's difficult becuase it's the first page in his book that is memory of somebody. We lost him very suddenly and it's really the first time I've lost somebody close to me. My family is very large and unusually close; I wanted GQ to know my whole family the way I do and he's not going to have that chance with my Uncle. It's very important to me that he knows who he was and about him, so I made this page. The journaling is yet come, I hope to provide stories about my Uncle for GQ. The title and words on the layout are that of a Beatles song, he was a HUGE Beatles fan and this was a favorite of his.

A Friday Sketch & Scrap Page for Hubby

Hubby has been out of town on business and it's allowed me to have some free time in the evenings after GQ is in bed to be creative. I hate when he's gone, but I enjoyed my evening scrapping and chatting on the phone with my girlfriend, Scheffie. (She's a night owl and I can always count on her for a late night chat session!) I used to scrap with her a couple times a month when we lived in Ohio, so I really miss seeing her!

Here are a couple things I made...

I made the baby card for the Friday Sketch at Memory Book Inspirations. Click here if you'd like to see the sketch. I made the card using scrap paper from my continually growing scrap stash. I really need to come up with a new system for storing my scraps, it's become a time consuming process to search through them all.

I made this scrapbook layout for hubby. Even though he likes to poke fun at how obsessed I am with paper crafting he enjoys looking at the end product. I've been working on putting more stuff into our album and not just the kiddo's. I was in our file cabinet and found this picture just laying by itself, not sure how it got there, I have our pictures stored somewhere else...I guess it was just begging to be scrapped. It's a picture of us in the booth we sat in on our 1/2 date. (The one where we went for drinks and chatting to see if we thought the other one was worthy of dating.) It was taken almost a year after that date. ( Hubby - If you're reading this, and I doubt you are, but if you see this...I love you and miss you :D )
